Grains are used to obtain flour, cereals, flakes, canned food (sweet corn), starch, ethyl alcohol, dextrin, beer, glucose, sugar, molasses, syrups, honey, corn oil (the germ of the grain contains up to 30% fat), vitamin E , ascorbic and glutamic acids.
Corn grain serves as feed for farm animals. 1 kg of grain is equal to 1.34 feed units, contains 78 g of digestible protein. A valuable component of compound feed. Protein of corn grain contains few essential amino acids - lysine and tryptophan, it is rich in a protein of little value in feed ratio - zein.
